θέλημα (thelēma)

The Greek word θέλημα (thelēma) has been variously translated to "do the will" with respect to doing God's will.

However, the word also means, according to Thayer's lexicon, "what one wishes or has determined shall be done" and "will, choice, inclination, desire, pleasure." Thus, doing that person's will is a subset of the larger point of doing what pleases the person.

When used in reference to the Supreme Being, the word would refer to actions that are pleasing to God - or seeking to please God.
